India has been a success story, for a decade now with the GDP growth consistently around 9% from the last three years. India, on the back of GDP, coupled with manufacturing growth has the potential to become a global hub for sourcing of Down Stream products of non ferrous metals The Entrepreneurship track of Vedanta Elements is all about this untapped potential.
There will be multiple forums at the event, to communicate the opportunities available for entrepreneurs to partner and grow with Vedanta. There will be ample avenues to understand the business plans and challenges involved. This will be followed by participative discussions and one on one session with key decision makers.
The event is characterized by a multitude of participants across the Industry. The existing users of non ferrous metals, Indian as well as International Associations, Entrepreneurs, Consultants and Equipment Suppliers would be participating in the event. Structured one to one meetings, expert speaker sessions, panel discussions and exhibition are few of the salient features of the program.
Downstream Items
These are items, which are one step ahead in the value chain of non ferrous metals and in majority of these products; India is a net importer in spite of being a net exporter of the non ferrous metals.
The event gives an opportunity to capitalize on the knowledge and case studies shared by Indian as well as International speakers, to provide a platform, facilitated by Vedanta to arrive at a future road map for creating facilities in the country. These capacities shall cater to the huge projected and untapped demand of downstream products of Zinc, Aluminium, Copper and Lead. Immense potential lies in India to develop a market for the following downstream items identified, where India can become the hub for sourcing of downstream products for the world.

Residual Items
VEDANTA looks for interested entrepreneurs / business partners in putting up units based on the by products generated at our end and are major raw materials in the following areas of business.
Gypsum Boards: Sterlite Industries (I) Ltd generates 1.2 million tons p.a of Phospho Gypsum, which can be used in the manufacture of Gypsum Boards.
FAL G Bricks: Fly ash is a waste product generated from thermal power plants. Gypsum is generated as byproduct from phosphoric acid plants.
Aluminum Fluoride: Sterlite Industries (I) ltd generates approx 13000 MT of Hydro Fluro silicic acid every year, which is one of the main raw materials for production of AlF3.
Copper Slag Grading Unit: Copper slag is used in huge quantities in all the major shipyards, fabrication yards and oil field pipe line installations. Sterlite Industries (I) Ltd produces approx 0.7 mill tons of Copper slag p.a
Diammonium phosphate Unit: Sterlite Industries (I) Ltd produces 2.3 lacs tons of P2O5 and the same can be used for production of DAP.
Single Super Phosphate (SSP): India has an installed capacity of 6.6 mill tons. Sterlite Industries (I) Ltd produces 1.2 million tons of Sulphuric acid, a main raw material for the production of SSP.
Iron ore tailings: At Sesa Goa's mines in Goa, large quantities of iron ore tailings are generated, which finds alternative uses for ex: burn free bricks, sintered bricks and lime-sand.
Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS): Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) has cementations properties, which make a suitable partial replacement for or additive to Portland cement.
Fly ash: Fly Ash is used in Cement manufacturing, Brick manufacturing, Road construction & Land filling for Low lying areas. VEDANTA is looking for entrepreneurs for setting up Cement Plants at the 2 Power plant locations at Korba, Chhattisgarh & Jharsuguda, and Orissa.
Red Mud (Residual Bauxite) : Red mud generation at BALCO is about 1.1 MTPA per annum and projected generation for the year 2010 is 3.6 MTPA It is estimated that 3-4 Pct of red mud can be used /Mt of clinker produced substituting Bauxite and Iron ore.
